Strengthening Food Control in Tonga through an Integrated Approach

TCCI attended consultations and workshop on “Strengthening Food Control in Tonga through an Integrated Approach” – Stakeholders Consultation for the Review of the Draft Food Code Regulations.

The Programme runs from the 16th to 18th November:
- Monday 16th – Manufacturers, Caterers, Restaurants etc.
- Tuesday 17th – Importers, Exporters and Retailers.
- Wednesday 18th – Consumer Groups.

The programme involves a brief overview of the Food Act 2014 and a review of the Food Standard Codes 2006. And discussions of stakeholder priority issues for review focussing on 4 main stages – import, preparation, sale and export.

This is part of a 2 year project funded by FAO and organised by MAFFF. Consultants involved in the project are Sela Bloomfield (Legal), Mele ‘Amanki (Food) and Luke Berrell (Export/Import).
